Dr. Ifeanyi Charles Ume, Chairman of the Board

Dr. I. Charles Ume is a Professor and Director of the Advanced Electronic Packaging and Laser Processing Labs at the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1985 from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC. Prof. Ume has held the rank of Full Professor at Georgia Tech since 1999. He founded Akrometrix in 1993, and has been its Chairman of the Board of Directors since its inception. Dr. Ume was a Visiting Scientist at IBM-Austin and Motorola-Schaumburg from 1989 to 1990. He is a leader and world-renowned authority in thermo-mechanical reliability in microelectronic and electronic packaging, and laser ultrasound application to weld quality monitoring and control during robotic welding process.

Dr. Ume has co-authored over 240-refereed publications, 11 US patents, edited 11 books, and supervised the research of 24 Ph.D. and 43 MS students. He has received numerous honors and awards which include: State of Georgia Faculty Commercialization Awards,1993 and 2000; ASME-EEPD Best Paper of the Year Award,1997; ISA Society E. G. Bailey Award,1999; Georgia Tech’s Outstanding Interdisciplinary Activities Research Award, 2002; ISA Society Donald P. Eckman Education Award in 2002; Fellows of ASME (2003) and IEEE (2004); The Nigerian National Order of Merit Award, the nation’s highest honor in science and technology, 2003; ASEE Robert G. Quinn Award for Excellence in Engineering Education, 2004; IEEE-CPMT Outstanding Sustained Technical Contribution Award, 2005; Fellow of Nigerian Academy of Science, 2006; Georgia Tech Sigma Xi Sustained Research Award, 2007; ASME-EPPD Executive Committee Chairman, 2008-2009; ASME-EPPD Excellence in Mechanics Award, 2010; Co-Editor-in-Chief of Mechatronics Journal, 2001-2006; Associate Editors of IEEE-TCPT (1999 – present) and ASME-JEP (1996 – 1999); and General Chair of the 7th Mechatronics Forum International Conference, 2000. Prof. Ume’s former MS and 2 Ph.D. students won the Best Sigma Xi MS Thesis and Ph.D. Dissertation Awards (1987, 1997 and 2006).

Timothy J. Purdie

Timothy J. Purdie brings a solid track record of success and over 29 years of experience to his role on the Akrometrix Board of Directors. Timothy served as President and CEO of Akrometrix LLC from October 2008 until July 2015. Prior to his tenure at Akrometrix, he was President of Westgate International Ltd., a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, value-sell, and lean manufacturing. Prior to Westgate International Ltd. he was Vice President of Sonix Corporation, an innovative semiconductor test and measurement company. Timothy also serves on the Board of Directors for J2M Test Solutions and the Darmark Corporation. Timothy obtained a licensed certificate in Radiological Technology from Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelors degree in Business from University of Maryland and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

S. Andrew McKay

Mr. McKay is currently a Senior Vice President and Director of Investment Banking at Hilliard Lyons Investment Banking. Mr. McKay joined Hilliard Lyons Investment Banking in 2010 upon its combination with bCatalyst Advisors, a regional M&A and business valuation firm. As CEO of bCatalyst, Mr. McKay led client engagements for the firm. Mr. McKay has over 30 years experience in executing middle-market M&A, investment, financial, valuation and other business transactions. Mr. McKay is a member of the Kentucky and Georgia bars, and the Kentucky Society of CPAs. He is accredited in Business Valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. McKay serves on the Board of Advisors for Spalding University’s College of Business and Communication, and is a Board or Advisory Board Member of ACG Kentucky, Galen College of Nursing, Enterprise Corp (a division of Greater Louisville, Inc.), Citizens Union Bank and Engent. Mr. McKay has a BS from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a JD (with honors) from the University of Georgia, School of Law.

Dr. Dirk Zwemer

Dr. Dirk A. Zwemer, Ph.D, serves as the President of InterCAX, LLC. Dr. Zwemer served as Chief Technology Officer of AkroMetrix, LLC and served as its Vice President of Technology. Dr. Zwemer joined Akrometrix in 1995 to help establish R&D, Engineering, Production, Finance and Human Resources functions. Dr. Zwemer was a member of the executive management team at Akrometrix for 13 years and also served as its Executive Vice President of Technology. Dr. Zwemer has over fifteen years prior experience in the electronics industry with Bell Labs as a member of the Technical Staff, ITT as Manager, Advanced Manufacturing and Power Systems and SRI Consulting as a Senior Consultant. He served as General Manager of InterCAX LLC. He is the author of numerous patents, multiple technical papers, trade journal articles and market research reports. He served as Vice President of Operations and President of AkroMetrix LLC. He serves as a Director of AkroMetrix, LLC. Dr. Zwemer received a B.S. in Chemistry from MIT, a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley and an MBA in Marketing from Santa Clara University.
